Long ago, when Adelaide Stevenson was on the old campaign trail, A woman once said to him, "Sir, you have the vote of every thinking American!"
Mr. Stevenson responded, "That's not enough. I need a majority." I wonder if that's why he lost.
But it makes me think. And that's the whole idea I am sure. Art is made when thoughts are put into some sort of physical medium. At least good art is. When you sit in front of that easel, think about what you want to accomplish. If you know you want to create a work of beauty by imitating nature, or the human body, good. If you want to express an obscure political or social point of view, good. If you want to tell your life's story, good. Just think about what it is you are doing, and do it well. To your best ability. That's what it's all about.
